5 Kid-Friendly Events in the Pikesville Area

Fun times available for kids include building with Legos, playing Xbox and Wii with friends, learning a computer program, attending a block party and seeing a movie.

1. . At 10 a.m. Thursday at Pikesville Branch Library, 1301 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, Legos and other supplies will be ready and waiting for kids ages 6-12. They'll build structures born of their own imaginations. Children ages 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Advance registration is required. 3. . Kids ages 13 and older can take classes on "Introduction to Microsoft Word" at the Randallstown Branch Library, 8604 Liberty Road, Randallstown. The class begins at 9 a.m. Saturday. Kids will learn basic document-writing skills on the computer.

4. . This weekly block party in Towson is set for 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Fridays through Sept. 30 at Allegheny Avenue between York Road and Washington Avenue. Leave pets at home, but bring the family for music, fun for kids, and refreshments at this outdoor event. Call 410 825-1144 for information.

5. This movie, rated PG, is a good choice for family entertainment. It will be shown at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Woodlawn Branch Library, 1811 Woodlawn Dr., Woodlawn, for kids and their families.
