Wind Down With a Glass of Wine

DiWine Spirits Wine Shoppe hosts Saturday wine tastings for area connoisseurs.

There are so many elements involved with the choice of a wine. Is it a dessert wine or a dinner wine? And then there are the varieties: red, white, sauvignon, Pinot Noir and so many more.

Fortunately, there's a Pikesville wine boutique for everyone from the novice to the most eclectic connoisseur.

is located in the Woodholme Center at 1852 Reisterstown Road, Suite 104.

This shop has a large selection of kosher wines, as well as a vast stock of wines from around the world.

I stopped by DiWine just a few days ago and I stepped into a wine wonderland. Beautiful wine bottles adorn display shelves from the ceiling to the floor, and there are floor displays for those who like to touch, peruse and ponder each selection.

Free wine tastings, featuring six to eight wines, are held every Saturday from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m., said Elite Jakob, events manager.

“We have something for everybody—sweets, dries and more,” Jakob said.

During this special weekly event, the Shoppe offers 20 percent off the featured wines.

There are also a variety of events throughout the year. “The boutique hosts a kosher tasting about two or three times per year during Jewish holidays,” Jakob said.

Staff wine consultants can also provide at-home tastings for clients who are preparing for special events and dinner parties.

In addition to having a collector’s wine selection, DiWine sells microbrew beer and spirits.
