The Sky Darkens in Pikesville as Tornado Warning Issued

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning through 4:45 p.m. Thursday, but dropped it at about 4:36 p.m.

The sky changed quickly Thursday afternoon in Baltimore County as a tornado was reportedly seen in Olney.

National Weather Service "says it has confirmed a tornado on the gorund near Olney, moving east at 50 mph," Baltimore County Emergency tweeted at 4:01 p.m.

The Maryland Emergency Management Agency urged residents to take cover, in the warning area of Baltimore, Prince George's, Montgomery, Anne Arundel and Howard counties.

Employees at BWI Thurgood Marshall International Airport were ordered to take cover away from windows, accrding to more tweets from the county.

Here are some photos taken in or near downtown Pikesville, at the Baltimore County Police Department's Pikesville Precinct, at the parking lot of Pikes Diner, and at Jilly's where I decided to wait out this second storm of the day.

At last report, it ended up producing only a few rumblings of thunder, rain and wind in our area.
