Escape to Jewish fare and excellent service at Suburban House, a Pikesville delicatessen and restaurant.

delicatessen and restaurant, a popular Pikesville eatery, offers a special menu during Passover, and a hearty, tasty escape from the fast-food scene.

During Passover, which continues through sundown Tuesday, “We’re serving matzo, veggie lasagna and meat lasagna,” said Rose Stefan, manager. “We also offer different lunch specials: brisket; pastrami reuben served with onion rings; grilled chicken served with onion rings; and flounder with broccoli."

Suburban House's regular menu offers an extensive selection, with choices ranging from breakfast to dinner, lox and bagels to matzo ball soup.

The Suburban serves deli sandwiches, salads, milkshakes and specialty plates. And, if you really want breakfast instead of lunch, “We serve breakfast all day and every day,” Stefan said, including omelettes, waffles and other morning food delights.

When it comes to drinks, they serve beer, wine and mixed drinks, sodas, tea and more. There isn’t a happy hour, but Rose says, “We’re happy all the time.”

As the weather becomes warmer, eating outside is the thing to do. While enjoying the sunshine, munch on an albacore tuna sandwich served with fries and sip a glass of iced tea. Not in the mood for seafood? The deli menu includes sandwiches such as corned beef with a choice of breads.

The restaurant is located at 1700 Reisterstown Road, Ste. 105, in Pomona Square. In 2009, its previous location in downtown Pikesville was destroyed by a fire. The new location represents a new start and includes plenty of space both inside and outside—including plenty of parking.
