Patch Contributors Share Passover Seder Photos, Memories

Pikesville residents share some photos from their Passover Seders. Submit your own photos to Editor Janet Metzner at janet.metzner@patch.com.

As the eight days of Passover end at sundown today, April 26, Pikesville Patch takes a look back at some Seders of 2011.

Through words and photographs, Pikesville Patch contributors Ruth Goldstein, Jeff Seidel, Elita Sohmer Clayman and Elizabeth Wexler share some of their special moments from their gatherings.

"On Passover, the youngest child at the Seder asks the Four Questions," said Clayman, of Pikesville. "It starts out with 'Why is this night different from all other nights?'"

But Clayman's family did it a little differently this year.

"At my son’s house in Northern Virginia, both his young children each asked them separately," she said. Ethan is 5 1/2, and Ava is 3 1/2. "This was different than usual because he let both have the honor of reciting this important tradition. It is exciting for young children to participate in the Seder Passover services."

This year, Wexler, of Mt. Washington, who writes many Pikesville restaurant reviews, celebrated in Baltimore with her two "families."

"This year, for the first time, my parents came with me to my Baltimore "family" for Passover Seder," she said. "It was like two different parts of my world merging, and it was a great holiday!"
