MOMS TALK: What if You Had More Time?

I asked our Moms Council what they, as parents, would choose to do if they had one additional day per week—for an entire month.

Ruth Tyler: Wow! If I had one more day per week for a month, the possibilities are endless!

But here are the things that would be at the top of my list:

Week 1: I would spend the day volunteering my time with children who are disabled.

Week 2: I love the beach! I would spend the entire day at the beach with my son, splashing in the ocean, enjoying a picnic lunch and flying our kites! (It has to be at least 90 degrees, though).

Week 3: I would travel to Martha's Vineyard with my family and friends.

Week 4: I really enjoy cooking! If time nor money were an issue, I would travel to Paris, France, and take a gourmet cooking class by the top chef in the country, and then go shopping!

Week 5: I would start a business that would create substantial income for my great-grandchildren.

Now, when does this go into effect?

Jeff Seidel: I would want to try and do something where we can kick back and relax. If it involved my son, it would be fun to go to a ball game when it's a nice night.

For my daughter, I am sure it would involve a mall. How could it not?

Charlotte Baber: I would take my daughter to the local free museums in Baltimore, plus go to specific sites significant to the area for cultural awareness, such as Poe's grave; go to places that Jimi Hendrix frequented; go to the Pimlico races; visit the oldest shul in this country, the architecture of churches and masjid; listen to a concert at Concert Artists of Baltimore ... find some local cuisine for lunch, sail into the harbor and discuss the military's significance in our history, and have a super-duper large ice cream sundae ... laugh a lot and continually remind my daughter that I am the luckiest mother in the world to have such a terrific daughter, while cruising with the convertible down on the car, playing K.T. Oslen and Gnarles Barkley, and handing out protein shakes to the homeless in Baltimore.
