Baltimore Hebrew Congregation Sweetens Mitzvah Day

Volunteers create about 80 winter packages, including scarves, hot chocolate mixes, holiday cards and other gifts for Paul's Place in Baltimore.

 

Dozens of volunteers, including families with young children on up to teenagers, participated in Mitzvah Day on Sunday at Baltimore Hebrew Congregation in Pikesville.

Volunteers were divided into groups for scarf-making, chocolate spoon-making, candy-cane crushing, creating holiday cards, and other projects.

They were creating gifts, including Ravens scarves, hot chocolate mix and more.

With those creations, volunteers compiled about 80 winter gifts baskets for the children of Paul's Place, according to the Jewish Volunteer Connection website.

Paul's Place is an outreach center serving the Washington Village/Pigtown communities of Baltimore City, it states.

is an event organized by The Associated and JVC, and takes place each Christmas Day.

The event at was just one of dozens that took place throughout the Baltimore area, including the flagship event at the Weinberg Jewish Community Center in Upper Park Heights.
