Kick It Into Gear With Pikesville Bicycle Shop

Find what this local bicycle shop offers.

Take a leisurely stroll around town, or bike as fast as the cars along Reisterstown Road with a bike from Pikesville Bicycle Shop.

The bike shop located on 1416 Reisterstown Road opened 18 months ago, and owner Bernie Troutner says Pikesville needed a place where locals can purchase quality bikes.

"You cannot buy bikes at Walmart," Trouter says. "They're toys. These are machines."

He says that these bicycles are worth the extra expense.

"You have to buy bikes from a bicycle shop," he says. "The [department store bikes] fall apart and are just garbage from China."

The shop offers more than 300 bicycles for sale and more than 100 different models. Average prices range from $400 to $600, Troutner says, while the most expensive bicycle can cost up to $9,000.

Service repairs usually take less than a day's time.

Locals will also find bike accessories, including fashionable U.S.-made Bandbox helmets.

Check out the shop, open from Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
