Foreign Countries Warn Their Travelers About Baltimore, DC

The French government has labeled Baltimore a "dangerous city except downtown." What do you think?

Iraq, North Korea -- they’re some of the countries Americans are warned to avoid by the U.S. State Department on its list of travel warnings because of unsafe political situations.

It turns out foreign governments have similar warnings about some cities in the U.S., including New York, Los Angeles and two others close to home, reports The Washington Post.

Here’s what the French government says about a couple of American cities:

Washington: Northeast and Southeast should be avoided, and Union Station is dangerous at night. “Le quartier Anacostia n’est pas recommandable de jour comme de nuit.” Translation: Don’t go to Anacostia, day or night.

Baltimore: “Considered a dangerous city except downtown.”
