BGE: Power Outage in Pikesville Area Repaired

A power outage this morning in Pikesville was caused by a downed tree on a power line.

A power outage in Pikesville and Cross Country in Baltimore this morning was caused by a downed tree on Clarks Lane in Pikesville, said Rachel Lighty, BGE spokeswoman.

Cross Country is, at places, within a mile of the Baltimore County/ Baltimore City line.

The two-hour outage began at 9 a.m. and power was restored by 11 a.m., she said. To repair it, crews would have removed the tree and re-energized the line.

According to BGE's website, at the time of the outage there were 216 customers without power. Most of them were likely involved in this particular outage, Lighty said.

A windstorm last week weakened some branches and trees, so the power company said in a news release that it anticipated that limbs or trees might fall, causing some outages after the snowstorm overnight Monday.
