BGE: Most Windstorm Power Outages to be Restored by late Sunday

The utility restored service to more than 80,000 customers in less than 24 hours. Most will be restored by late Sunday evening or Monday. Some outages still exist in Pikesville, Cockeysville, Lutherville, Timonium and Towson.

The windstorm Friday caused more than 93,000 electricity outages for BGE customers in central Maryland, but already more than 85,000 of them have been restored, the company said in a news release today.

"BGE and contractor crews will restore service to many customers by Saturday evening; however, due to the extensive system damage from the storm, full restoration is not expected to occur until late Sunday night, with some scattered outages extending into Monday," it states.

"BGE’s electric system sustained widespread damage during yesterday’s windstorm, in excess of what the utility experienced during last month’s heavy, wet snow."
