Speaker Pro Tem Delegate Adrienne Jones Gets High Marks on Education and the Enviroment

 

Randallstown, MD. (July 25, 2013) – The ratings for Maryland’s General Assembly members has been issued, and Speaker Pro Tem Delegate Adrienne Jones representing the 10th Legislative District has received very high marks.

In the 2013 edition of the Maryland League of Conservation Voters, Delegate Jones earned a score of 75%, for her votes to help protect and conserve the environment.  The group also noted the fact that her lifetime score was 93%.  The League’s board said that the scores reflect the priorities of the environmental community regarding such topics as clean water, green jobs, agriculture, and global warming.  The board also based the scores on the work being done to protect the Chesapeake Bay and the enforcement of environmental laws.

In response to the 2013 score, Del. Jones stated that as Chair of the Capital Budget Subcommittee she fully funded a program that supported environmental programs.

            “As chair of the subcommittee, I fully funded the Program Open Space, however the funding was cut by the Maryland Senate,” Del. Jones said.

The Maryland State Educational Association’s Action Line magazine also recognized Del. Jones for her votes on their position on all ten of the house bills supported by the group.  They said that the delegate was never absent, and there was not a bill upon which she did not vote.

“The education of the young people in the State of Maryland is one of my biggest priorities, and I carefully study each bill that comes before the House of Delegates to make provide the funding and tools that students and teachers,” Del Jones said.  “It is also very important that the residents of the State have a safe and clean environment, so my efforts regarding conservation and green programs is extremely important.”

Representing the residents of the 10th legislative district and the State of Maryland, Del. Jones says that her sole purpose as a legislator is to provide the resources needed for Maryland to continue to be a safe and environmentally friendly place for families.  She says it is also extremely important for students be provide the best education possible, and her legislative efforts will be to continue to fund school initiatives.
