Baltimore Resident Celestine Smith Receives Massage Envy Spa Scholarship

In recognition of her commitment and persistence, local resident Celestine Smith received a $250 Massage Envy Spa Scholarship to help her acquire her Maryland State Massage Therapist License. The scholarship is part of the commitment that Massage Envy Spas in the Maryland, Washington D.C, and Northern Virginia region have made to support the education of local students and the growth of the industry.

“Celestine is very deserving of this award. She is a motivated professional and we welcome her into the industry,” says Winston Moore, Regional Director of Therapist Development at Massage Envy Spa. “We continue to partner with the Baltimore School of Massage (BSOM) to support their graduates and to educate high-quality massage therapy and spa professionals.”

Smith was selected by a panel of area Massage Envy Spa franchise owners to receive the scholarship after maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the seven and a half-month massage therapy course at BSOM and submitting a video essay.

Unsatisfied with a typical service career, Smith pursued her passion and skills in massage therapy. Driven to help others and support her family, she found great success in her course work, motivated by the encouragement and support she received from the faculty and staff of BSOM. After recently receiving her Maryland State Massage Therapist License, Smith plans on working for Massage Envy Spa and aspires to one day provide sports massage for a professional sports franchise.

“I hope to show my family the appreciation they deserve and to make a true impact in the lives of my clients. This is my passion. By improving clients’ health and well-being I hope to leave my mark on the world,” said Smith.
