Dancing With The Stars features two performers with Baltimore ties.
Ravens receiver Jacoby Jones and partner Karina Smirnoff improved upon their debut performance on Dancing With The Stars Monday night. The pair earned a 20 out of 30, up one point from the week prior. The show also featured Baltimore's Dorothy Hamill, the Olympic and world champion figure skater. She and partner Tristan McManus earned a 15, as Hamill struggled through a back injury. The series airs on Monday and Tuesday nights on ABC. TELL US: Did you watch Monday's show? Dancing With The Stars debuted its new season Monday night, featuring the Ravens receiver and the Baltimore-based figure skating champion.
Ravens receiver Jacoby Jones broke out "the squirrel" with partner Karina Smirnoff in his first performance on Dancing With The Stars Monday night. The season premiere also featured Baltimore's Dorothy Hamill, the Olympic and world champion figure skater. Check out the video with this post for their performances. Jones earned a score of 19 out of 30 dancing to "Cha Cha Cha", while Hamill pulled in a 21 with her perfomance to "Tiny Dancer." The series airs on Monday and Tuesday nights on ABC. Jones was asked to perform on the program after his charisma and dance moves were on display during and following the Ravens' Super Bowl victory in February. The musical Man of La Mancha will be performed this week at Pikesville High School. "Featuring the world renowned song The Impossible Dream, the musical tells the story of imprisoned Miguel de Cervantes, who faces the Spanish Inquisition," according to a news release from the school. "Using imagination, Cervantes transforms into the courageously and humorously optimistic Don Quixote and his sidekick, the realistic foil, Sancho Panza," it states. Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, according to the release. Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the door. Call 410-887-1217 for more information. Gucci Mane's concert was canceled last weekend in Pikesville.
Rapper Gucci Mane's album release party set for Saturday in Pikesville was held at an alternative site in D.C. Fur Night Club took on the party after the Pikesville one was canceled with short notice Friday. The new location was mentioned on the artist's website, as well as on Fur's website. The cancelation by the Pikesville Military Reservation, the original site of the planned party, concerned Baltimore County police, who used their own social media, and asked Pikesville Patch for help in getting the word out. The department wanted to make sure that fans didn't show up in Pikesville, disappointed that the concert had been canceled. The Baltimore County Police Department is using its own social media to let customers who bought tickets to a Gucci Mane concert in Pikesville know that it will not be held.
The Baltimore County Police Department is working to let rap fans know that a Gucci Mane concert will not take place Saturday in Pikesville. "Whenever there are presales (of tickets) there is a concern about people showing up not knowing it is canceled," said police spokeswoman Elise Armacost. Police are trying to help mitigate the "possibility of disappointed customers showing up," she said. The concert, described on the artist's website as an album release party for Trap God 2, was to be held Saturday night through Sunday morning at the Pikesville Military Reservation.
