Walmart To Bring Vision Center, Pharmacy, Subway, Salon

Randallstown's new business will be open 24 hours per day, seven days a week.

When the new Walmart Super Center opens next week in Randallstown, it brings with it a Subway restaurant and SmartStyle hair salon.

That's in addition to Walmart's grocery, deli, bakery, home and garden center and pharmacy—including a drive-thru feature—according to a news release from Walmart.

“The president, board of directors, members and staff of the Liberty Road Business Association are excited to welcome Walmart to the Liberty Road business community and are looking forward to Walmart’s involvement,” Harold G. Reid, LRBA executive director, said in a statement.

The grand opening for the 150,000-square-foot store begins with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17 at the store, located at 8730 Liberty Rd. in Randallstown.

That's in the Liberty Plaza shopping center, where the Valu Food store once stood. The area where a bank and other stores had been is now torn down and is part of the expansive parking lot.

During the ribbon cutting ceremony Walmart Associate Hugh Lowery will perform the national anthem, and the American Legion will present the colors, the release states. Store associates will cut the ribbon.

After the ceremony, the store will be open to the public, the release states.

The store, managed by Jim Hiteshue, will be open seven days a week, 24 hours per day.

On Oct. 17, throughout the day there will be product giveaways, and a visit from Chester the Cheetah and other characters.

On Saturday, Oct. 20, there will be face painting, balloons and a visit from McGruff the Crime Dog.

The store will offer clothing, electronics, toys, jewelry, automotive products a one-hour photo lab and a vision center.
