Map: Three Sex Offenders' Homes in the 21209 ZIP Code

To help you keep your family safe during trick-or-treating, here's a map of registered sex offenders in Pikesville and Baltimore's 21209 ZIP code, and a link to finding sex offenders in other areas, as well.

After talking to our children all year about being safe and not talking to strangers, there's one day each year we send them out onto the streets and tell them to knock on strangers' doors.

Halloween is upon us, and Pikesville Patch wants to help everyone stay safe.

So we've created this map of the homes of three registered sex offenders in the 21209 ZIP code, so you can choose whose door to knock on and whose not to—especially if your family is trick-or-treating in a different neighborhood, with friends or at Grandma's.

To check out your neighborhood, zoom in or out of the map above.

To find out more information about the people listed here, and to see photos, visit The Maryland Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services website, and enter ZIP code 21208.

Also at that site, you can search for offenders in other ZIP codes, depending on where you live or where you will be trick-or-treating, including in Pikesville's other ZIP codes: 21215 on the west side, and 21208.

Here are maps to help you find ZIP codes:

Sex offenders have the lowest recidivism rate of all criminals except murderers, according to dozens of university, federal and state studies. Not all sex offenders have victimized children, and over 1/3 of sex crimes perpetrated against children are committed by other children. 95% of kids are abused by family or friends who aren't on the registry. Dr. Jill Levenson’s 2009 study, “How Safe are Trick-or-Treaters: Child Sex Crime Rates on Halloween?” found that non-familial child sexual abuse accounted for less than .2% on Halloween. Why is law enforcement spreading such glaring myths, and why is the media latching on??

The Maryland Sex Offender Registry is public information, and the public can access it at any time, and even get updates on certain offenders' registrations. It's available so that the public can be aware. Here's the link: http://www.socem.info/ In the Pikesville area, do a search of the 21215 ZIP code that covers parts of the city and county, where there is a large number of offenders registered: 195, including abductors and
rapists.

If parents go out with their children trick or treating then they don't have to worry about sex offenders, they will know where their children are at all times. As for the info here on Patch, if people want to know where the sex offenders are, you are right, they can look it up. There is no need for Patch to offer a list of houses.
