Standing exactly where it was decades ago, the administrative office at Druid Ridge cemetery has yet to change, much like the park itself. Even though it is situated next to one of the busiest intersections in Pikesville at Park Heights and Old Court Road, the noise never seems to penetrate the scenic interior of the park.
Established in 1898, Druid Ridge is also the only cemetery in the United States that features a memorial monument to a British Queen. The large stone slab donated by Edwin Bennett in 1903 still stands in its midst.
As any good Pikesville resident will tell you, Druid Ridge is one of the few notable landmarks in the area. It has served as far more than a cemetery since its inception. Local resident Angela Roth says "We love bringing the kids. It's lovely here during the summer and they enjoy feeding the geese. It's a great place to spend some time with your children outside without having to go far."
Just as the beautiful lake at Druid Ridge continues to bring the geese back each year, so too should it continue to serve as a pleasant diversion for local families for years to come.
