Help Temple Collect Items for Disaster-Stricken NY, NJ

Hurricane Sandy devastated parts of these states to our north, so a Pikesville temple is collecting items Monday and Tuesday to deliver to people in need.

Temple Oheb Shalom is collecting supplies to deliver to areas in New York and New Jersey, according to Caren Leven, congregation spokeswoman.

Through Temple Oheb Shalom's Hurricane Sandy Community Drive, the congregation is collecting items from batteries to diapers and warm clothing, according to an announcement.

Read the full list of items needed.

The items are to be delivered before an anticipated winter storm this week possibly hits that same area damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

To help with the donation, bring your items from 7-9 p.m. Tues. Nov. 5 and Wed. Nov. 6 to the temple, 7310 Park Heights Ave.

For more information, visit the temple's Facebook page.

Does your organization have a relief collection going on? Mention it in the comments section below this article, add the information to your own Local Voices column, enter it in our events calendar or to our announcements section.

Caren, we had a couple of 18-wheelers here yesterday, but they're already gone, back to NYC. We don't, so far, have plans for them to come back. But there are others you can ask, for example, Gourmet Girls in Owings Mills: http://patch.com/A-zs7q. Also, check out the comments under this story, showing many other organizations that are collecting and delivering as well: http://patch.com/A-zmXJ

I'll put a call out, too, to anyone who plans to deliver donations to New York and New Jersey: Can anyone help with some deliveries? (See the message before this one)
