But it really also involves What type of restaurant, and definitely the company you are with..... If I am hungry i would like to eat fairly quickly, although if I am with a Wonderful Person, and enjoying the conversation, or have ordered say Peking Duck, i would expect to wait a lil more than 20 minutes....

I agree. How long you wait for your food to arrive does depend on the situation, the restaurant and the dish.

I think that waiting to pay is worse than waiting for food.

Jill, True! Waiting to pay your bill at a restaurant can take a long time. If it's taking too long, I often just go right up to the register or manager and ask to pay.

I can't think of a dish in a restaurant that should take 30 mins to prepare, so 30 mins from order. How long it takes to first visit the table, to come back, to take order firgures into the equation, too. I think a had and fast rule is that if there isn't a meal at my table within 1 hr of when I first sat down, I am saying something politely and leaving.

Oh... unless I take a terribly long time chattering and trying to decide. Then, that's on me, of course!
