Pikesville Dancer Named to All-State Team
Nia Williams is among five from Baltimore County Public Schools to make the cut.
Five dancers from fine arts dance programs throughout the county were honored with berths as All-State Dancers.
Baltimore County Public Schools announced that Pikesville resident Nia Williams, a student from Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts is among them.
It's a prestigious title, as there are only 25 in the 2012-13 All-State Dance corps, according to a news release.
The other BCPS students are:
Amarachi Korie of Owings Mills, George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology
Kaiyla Ross of Owings Mills, also of Carver
Antonio Wright of Owings Mills, Carver
Cristina Escobar of Towson, Carver
The honor was announced at the Maryland Public High School Dance Showcase on Friday at Goucher College in Towson, the release states.
"All-State dancers are selected through an audition process based on teacher recommendations, and they represent the top dance students from Maryland’s public high school fine arts dance programs," the release states.
