In neighborhoods throughout the United States, Tuesday was the night to get out and visit with neighbors, family and friends.

And with the help of the Baltimore County Police Department's Pikesville precinct and the Pikesville Police & Community Relations Council, local neighborhoods were involved too.

For National Night Out, groups from Valleybrook, Queen Anne's Village, Willow Glen South, Ralston and Woodholme Green held cookouts and picnics, as well as activities including volleyball, frisbee and karaoke.

But most importantly, they visited with police and showed criminals that they are out and aware, and that crime is not welcome.

Baltimore County police from the Pikesville precinct, Jerry D'Antoni, president of the Pikesville Police & Community Relations Council, members of police Explorers and McGruff the Crime Dog visited each National Night Out event in the precinct's service area.
