Could someone please clarify the statements, "No charges were expected to be filed" and "Police are working with the state's attorney to determine what charges will be placed...etc"?

What they meant were no charges were expected last night. As a 15 year old the states attorney's office will decide if they will charge him as an adult or juvenile.
{A 16 year old I believe would automatically be charged as an adult.}

It means that most likely this Kid had been bullied for a long time and nobody stepped up to the plate to help this child or others who have been bullied for years and he took as much as he could and without any help he finally snapped and people is asking WHY...Wake up and smell the coffee this bullying has now been takened to another level so TEACH your kids not to bully others ..IF THIS is the case. How many times have we read where children / parents complain to school officials / police about this issue and it is dragged under the carpet as we have heard on the news and read in the papers many times over and over. AND IF the so called school officer was aware of this bullying why did he or school officials not act sooner before this came to this point ???

I think they should not only fix the bulliing issue but the parents of the shooter (whom ever the gun registered) should be charged for endagering a minor by not keeping the guns in a safe locked place maybe that will aslso help this from happening... And yeah the kid was bullied but alot of time kids dont tell anyone about it so how can ppl help ... And most of is older ppl wet to school and got bullied and we didnt resort to shotting ppl ..

the kid's parents should definitely share some of the responsibility for this tragedy. I'd like to know how he got the gun into the school...My main concern right now is that the injured boy makes a full recovery. and I am proud of jesse wasner and so glad no one else was hurt

Stop bashing the parents this is tragic bulling is out of control we don't know what was done to the shooter but I pray for the victim and his family no more bashing please if it was your family would you be so negative

I am praying for the victim and his family, and the whole community as well. I do believe as parents, we need to teach our children more compassion towards each other. I also think that every parent of a teenage should police their social media accounts. I know I do, and I see what other children post. Some of it is unbelievable. I have stopped my daughter from hanging out with others due to the nature of what they write on facebook.

Shooter should be charged as an adult and put away for the rest of his life. Once you show this much disregard for other people you don't deserve another chance. You need to be taken out of society. You don't blame his family or the school. He snuck the gun to school then put it together then fired it at completely innocent people . Lock him up for the rest if his life. If the victim does not recover then execute the criminal. Criminals need to be punished not pampered and understood.

Wow, get a grip Bart. If someone was in my home, uninvited, attempting to hurt one of my children or attempting to rape me or my daughter, I am not going to take a time out to dial 911. That "sign" could just be an off handed warning. I have a sign at my door that says "nothing inside is worth dying for" does that mean one of my kids is going to go shoot up a school? No. You know why? Because I am involved in my children's lives, I teach them to be kind to others and to stick up for themselves. When my daughter had issues at school, I called the school and I went to the school and I requested that action be taken. No one can speculate at this point why this kid did what he did, why he chose that particular victim, or what the circumstances were, you assuming that this kid was a bad seed because of a sign is no more than a sign of your ignorance.

Wow this has absolutely nothing to do with guns or gun control. I take my kids shooting quiet often. Guns are fun. They are a recreation tool like a fishing rod or a soccer ball. This is just a case of a bad person doing a bad thing. Lock him up and be done with it. We don't need to change our lives because one rotten piece of crap person did a bad thing. Send him to prison and the rest of us can live our lives as we please.

I agree with Kim. We all have to decide what to care about based on our own moral values. My moral compass directs me to care about the physical and mental health of all my fellow people, because we're all children of the same God, flawed or not.

Well thats all fine but this guy deserves hard time. His victim will be injured for the rest of his life so the shooter deserves to suffer for rest of his life. We don't need to know why he did it. What we need to know is that he will pay for his crime. It was a crime and should be punished as such.

I do not Condone what this boy did, but, why did he do it? First off where were his parents when he was putting Chrles Manson on his Face Book page? I would have def asked my son why do you admire him? I do blame the parents first, and then the school system second. Where were they all along? Suspend and then expel them for bullying. They allow things to get to this level, sorry just my opinion. This child grew up in a home where there is a sign saying we do not call 911, most homes have a wreath or something pleasant hanging on the door. This child learned this at home, and then to leave a gun exposed for anyone to handle, really? So why are the parents not to blame, your teaching your child not to rely on the system, such as the police, take matters into your own hands and hey while your at it, use a gun we have lying around here. Yes the shooter did the shooting, but there are alot of others that play a role. My stepson was bullied so bad. I went to the school, and they let it continue, they talked and talked and that was it. Bullying is real and should be a crime, if you do not like someone leave them alone, do not humilate them. if you tease and or kick a dog enough, he will eventually bite. This is all a tradegy and I will pray for everyone especially Bobby, I think he needs help and not thrown into a cell and forgotten, this child seems to be troubled, and it is such a shame he ruined his life and future at such a young age. It is sad. But he is to blame. It is not and should not be the schools job to police the children. There purpose is to educate the children. His parents may be guilty of not paying enough attention but that's not a crime. He made a poor choice and a prison cell should be all he knows now. Trust me in a year when he is is in prison serving his time not one person who has commented on here will remember who he is or care. I am sure I won't. He did it he will pay for it. The rest of us will continue on with our lives in the same way we have before this happened. Punish him not the schools or his parents. All the fault is his.

He is a product of his enviorment, Say whatever you like.. So why is it no one cares about how the shooter felt when he was being bullied? What he didn't have feelings? So it is ok to humiliate people, because the bully is unruly, and in my opinion brought up badly as well, no respect for peoples feelings. I believe you are mistaken, it is wrong for a parent or parents to not pay attention to thier children. I will remember him, and I will pray for him as well as the boy that was shot. I said in my previous post I do not agree with what he did. It is wrong and of course he should be punnished, but at the same time, punnish the parents, and the bully. If the gun was secured he would not have gotten it from the home, if he was taught to respect others, and rely on the system for help, it would not have happened. He is 15, too young to vote, drive, and make offical decisions, therefore his parents are responsible for him. Lets you and I agree to disagree. This is to Mike Smith. I personally know both of these kids and their families. And as horrible as this act was -- you scare me 1,000 times more. One of these boys was a lost soul and the other an innocent soul and I pray for both of these boys and their families. And, TRUST ME, when I say that I, and hopefully others, WILL still care about these two boys and their road to recovery. I say boys because they are both still kids, but you, on the other hand are an adult --- and everyone reading your comments knows that you will not care and will go on with your life as always because you are definitely lacking not only compassion, but a consciousness of others' distress. Just a note for all who took notice of the sign stating that "we don't call 911," that sign was already there when they bought the house and they chose not to take it down.
