Maryland's Tax-Free Appliances Weekend is Feb. 16-18

Some Energy Star products that qualify include dehumidifiers, air conditioners, clothes washers, furnaces and standard-size refrigerators, according to the state Comptroller's website.

Get a break on sales tax this weekend on some appliances sold throughout the state.

Saturday through Monday is Maryland's Tax Free Weekend for Energy Star appliances, according to the state comptroller's website.

The following products are eligible for the discount:

  • Air conditioners
  • Clothes washers
  • Furnaces
  • Heat pumps
  • Boilers
  • Solar water heaters (tax-exempt at all times now)
  • Standard size refrigerators
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Programmable thermostats
  • Compact fluorescent light bulbs

The offer begins at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, and runs through midnight Monday, the website states.

    I buy nearly everything of value in Deleware, where there is no sales tax. That way, I don't have to worry about what time of the year it is. Md. is taxing people to geath.
