The shops on Smith Avenue near Greenspring Avenue are now served by a newly blacktopped parking lot.

The parking spaces are all at right angles, there are bright, white arrows directing traffic, and the blacktop is smoothe and new at Greenspring Shopping Center.

There are more trees where trees in planters used to be, and the sidewalk into the center is wide and ready for Shabbat foot traffic.

Construction equipment and barriers are no longer obstacles to shopping.

The improvements made to the property, managed by Shopping Center Management Company Inc., include new lighting and repaving.

I like the look of the shopping center. It really brightens up the neighborhood! What do you think of the improvements? Tell us in the comments.

I was just at the Greenspring Shopping Center tonight. The newly paved parking lot is quite an improvement. The giant planters that made it difficult to open a car door are gone!

I was there tonight too. How about that! It is much more pleasant-looking.

Even though its just a 60 second drive from my house, I must not have been paying attention because I had never even noticed any construction going on, but I saw the results & it looks pretty good. Also I never liked parking in that lot before whereas the yesterday when I went I kind of just glided my car smoothly into a space. I normally wouldnt have remembered such a mundane detail but parking always used to be such a pain there so it stuck wtih me enough to remember later.

I agree, Yaelle, that parking used to be a pain. The shopping center is so convenient, but the parking wasn't. I think it had something to do with the angled parking spaces. It was more difficult to see people coming.

I've added some shots that show the Greenspring Shopping Center parking lot before the improvements.
