UPDATE: Loft to Open at 10 a.m. Friday

The new women's clothing store will reportedly feature a new concept: A larger dressing room, called a style closet, featuring outfits already put together, including accessories.

UPDATE 1:59 (p.m.)—Loft in the Festival at Woodholme is set to open at 10 a.m. Friday, a brand representative told Pikesville Patch.

The women's clothing store will feature a concept of 'style closet.' That refers to a new type of dressing room—one that's a little larger, and includes mannequins wearing coordinated outfits and accessories.

It's a way to get customers in the dressing room communicating about the fashions, and to get ideas, the representative said.

Also, according to the representative, who wouldn't allow her name to be published:

An opening event will be held from 1-5 p.m. Saturday. There will be a DJ and free skin consulting from one of the new Loft's neighbors, About Faces Day Salon and Spa.

There will be raffles of Loft and About Faces products, as well.

Then, from 6-9 p.m. May 9, there will be a cocktail party that is open to the public, she said. It will be hosted by Baltimore Style magazine.

At that event, guests will have the chance to win a $500 shopping spree.

Loft is its own brand, owned by Ann Inc., the same company that owns Ann Taylor, the representative said.

It is going to be interesting to see if all of the womens clothing stores survive.

True. Loft will be the sixth women's clothing store in the Festival at Woodholme, including Lexington Lady, Couture Moda, Franchesca's, White House/Black Market and Chico's. Did I miss any? For men, there's J.S. Edwards.

I would say 90% of my clothes come from Ann Taylor or Ann Taylor Loft, and the only one of those stores mentioned above that shoot for the same demographic as The Loft would be White House/Black Market (which is just pricier). I, for one, am glad to have my favorite store a little bit closer to home! Living in Arbutus, it's probably only a little closer than Columbia, but now I don't have to go into the dreaded Columbia Mall.
